Up till now, the only measure of the success of history channels on the video platform Youtube was their growing number of subscribers, from 30,000 to 740,000 for the most popular among them. But on 23 November, the 2018 History Youtuber Prize for the first time singled out the original work of these History buffs.
The event took place at the 11th history book fair in Versailles (France) or Salon du livre d’histoire de Versailles –Histoire de Lire, which was held on 24 and 25 November 2018. Since its first edition in 2008, the fair has promoted quality history books that are accessible to a wide audience. An initiative that is in line with BNP Paribas’s commitment to the dissemination of history, demonstrated also by its sponsorship of the Historia Prize and the French Association of Economic History.
By sponsoring this unusual competition, we are supporting talented young people who are developing new forms of knowledge transmission.
The Judges’ and Audience Prizes were awarded to Ugo Bimar and Brandon Waret respectively, for their channels Confessions d’Histoire and Brandon’s Stories.
