Shows, virtual reality, historical re-enactments, games… all of these are on the programme for the first Festival organised by Historia magazine, with the aim to bring History to life. From 16 to 18 February, get immersed in the first event of its kind in Strasbourg, and meet the BNP Paribas Archives & History team who will be there.
A festival to make history come alive
Stroll through a street from the 1940s. Go for an exceptional virtual reality experience and travel back in time. Test your physical endurance by training like a Roman soldier. Bet on the winning gladiator. March with Napoleon’s Old Guard. Sign up for an escape game in Apollo’s temple. Use the moveable type printing press from the 15th century. Discover medieval musical instruments and fabrics. Meet historians and YouTubers… a real festival!
The first experience of its kind in Europe
Historia magazine together with the City of Strasbourg and the Grand-Est Region is organising this big Living History event. It’s going to be a hit!
The Festival in figures: 7,000 m2, 110 exhibitors, 100 re-enactors, 200m2 of video games, 100m2 of virtual reality, 60 medieval stalls, 20 publishers and book-signing sessions, 20 round tables, 3 floats, 7 major YouTube history channels, 7 big names in model-making and figurines…
BNP Paribas and History
As an active player and privileged witness to great historical changes in the world over the past two centuries, the BNP Paribas Group will have its own stand at the Historia Festival. Its Archives & History team will present a variety of its productions: website, publications, web series, Twitter account, blogs, documentary tweet, and more.
BNP Paribas has been sponsoring the Historia Prize since 2011. This year, it will be awarded at the Festival, on Saturday, 17 February at 2 pm.
